Your installed EZ2 system requires an update beginning February 1, 2018. This EZ2 update includes a handful of corrections, as well as increased security and data integrity measures that protect your data when processing payments and using WebLink forms. This keeps your EZ2 system aligned with industry best practices so your data is as protected and as secure as it can be!
What is TLS?
TLS is like a bodyguard for your most important data as it transfers from one place to another along a network. It stands for “Transport Layer Security,” which provides privacy and data integrity between applications that work together. The most common data security method in place today, it’s used for web browsers and other software platforms that utilize networks to exchange data in a secure environment. TLS ensures that the connection from one application to another across a network is correct using complex formulas for encryption and identity verification at each endpoint.
TLS 1.0 is the original version and part of the original EZ2 software. The EZ2 update contains TLS 1.2, the improved, more secure gatekeeper for your system. Once TLS 1.0 is turned off, data with a lower security rating will not be accepted by EZ2 systems.
What Happens if I Don’t Install the EZ2 Update?
This is not a drill, and there is no charge to install this update! If you don’t update your EZ2 software (which includes TLS version 1.2) by February 1st, you will no longer be able to process payments online. This means the normal payments for tuition, registration, supply fees – you name it – will bounce around in cyberspace before being returned to your customers. Not only will you feel this pain in your bank account, but to play catch up, you may have to collect and enter payments manually. This will cost you valuable time that is better spent running a great program and servicing your clients.
You also won’t be able to use the WebLink online forms that make your life easier – like registration forms and permission slips. Do you have extra time to print out forms, wait for them to come back completed, and then enter all that data into your system by hand? Save yourself time and hassle by updating now!
How Do I Install the EZ2 Update?
The good news is it is not complicated. If you purchased the hosted version of EZ2, you don’t have to do anything – we will handle it all for you.
If you’re using the installed version, we’ve made the process quick and painless. A few weeks prior to turning off TLS 1.0, we’ll send you an email containing a link directly to the EZ2 update. If you miss the email, you can make the change right through the EZCare website.
Before you start, you’ll need the email address you use to login to EZ2 and your Client ID. You can locate your Client ID right in your EZ2 software. It’s at the bottom right corner next to the product logo and normally starts with a W. Here’s how to access and install the EZ2 update:
- Go to EZCaresoftware.com and hover over Clients Login at the top right of your screen just under the Customer Support phone number.
- Click EZ-Care2 Client Area in the dropdown menu.
- Enter your email address and Client ID when prompted. You’ll be directed to a page that houses the download you’ll need.
